K9 EyeScansm is an easy to use and fully automated service that performs sophisticated analyses of digital images of canine eyes, detects very specific characteristics and produces a statistically based evaluation identifying tendencies towards a wide variety of possible canine health issues as well as possible presence of cataracts.
In simple terms, K9 EyeScansm uses a specially designed digital camera and computer programs to find very specific characteristics in the canine eyes. Many different characteristics are recorded and compared to known values. As a result, K9 EyeScan produces an evaluation report that shows deviations from known statistical norms among a broad range of canine anatomical systems and organs. In addition, K9 EyeScan looks for cataracts, which frequently afflict our four-legged friends with age.
The scan is completely noninvasive and safe for the animal. A specially designed camera acquires images without the use of flash or any form of bright or harsh lighting and causes absolutely no discomfort to the animal. Dogs tolerate the procedure very well and are not bothered by it. The whole process takes literally just a few minutes and once the veterinarian staff takes the pictures, the computers take over and your pet is free to enjoy your company again.

The sophisticated computer algorithms developed by the K9 EyeScan team take the subjectivity of the human examiner completely out of the picture. Our specialized equipment and computer programs perform the analyses automatically, produce consistent and reliable results and help you and your veterinarian decide on the best healthcare options for your furry (and sometimes not so furry) family members.
While K9 EyeScan is new to the United States, it is based on well-established methodologies that have been in wide practice around the world for many years. The methodology behind the service is under continuous study and is being taught at well-established academic institutions throughout Europe, which report that the demand for accredited graduates is growing every day.
We all know that canines have been used in the past to develop and test new drugs and treatments for humans. In this case, however, K9 EyeScan applies the results of research on humans to the benefit of canines. Imagine that!
It is hard to ignore the well-known fact that early problem detection, treatment and monitoring are among the most important and well-known factors in improvement of the overall quality of healthcare and reduction in healthcare costs.
Nevertheless, we all know that our hectic work schedules and busy family lives often interfere even with the best plans and intentions. As a result, pet owners often find themselves too busy for regular visits to a veterinarian and many have yet to take their pet to a veterinarian for the first time.
There are many health risks that your dog faces every day, which can range from common parasite invasions to serious health issues caused by completely unexpected events such as the string of food poisonings that have been widely publicized in the press and other media in 2007.
So, for the sake of your pet’s health and your piece of mind, we urge you to visit your local veterinarian regularly and, while you are there, ask the doctor how K9 EyeScan can help you keep your pet in good health.
